It is always a treat to attend the Washington Design Center Market Day!
The Market Day features keynote speakers, product launches and open houses throughout the Washington Design Center. We also love visiting the different showrooms and connecting with our fabulous reps.
We always make it a point to visit Century. This Market Day, Century sponsored a presentation by Nathan Copeland, President of Highland House, and Lee Belmore, Creative Director of Highland House. We learned about the background and the details of many of their new fabrics (so new, that we were the first to see them–even before High Point Market!). And, we got to chat with some of our favorite reps.
We also attended a presentation at the Michael-Cleary showroom. The presentation was given by Stephanie Spero, the Global Representative Director of de Gournay. de Gournay “produce a range of superbly created wallpapers including our Chinoiserie and Eclectic collections with vibrant contrasting colours.” The wallpapers are created by true artisans, experts in their field, and are true works of art.
Stephanie shared some of the wallpapers and the background information associated with each wallpaper. She went into detail about the techniques and the processes that were used to create the works of art, such as hand painting, embroidering, beading and the use of gold and silver leaf.
The day was not complete without a visit to Fabricut, Kravet, Stark Carpets and Doris Leslie Blau.
What an inspirational and fun day!
