A shaped valance from a SCL Design Project
The shaped valance is one of my all-time favorite treatments. It is a small, stationary horizontal treatment at the top of the window. It is pretty, soft and looks good in a plain, floral or geometric fabric. The shaped valance can deliver a lot of personality in a very small package.
There are three variations that I use frequently — the classic bell shape, the soft scoop and the balloon valance.
When wood blinds or grass shades are needed for privacy, such as in a bathroom, I will often recommend a shaped valance to soften the overall look. This also works well over a kitchen sink.
A terrific way to really finish off a shaped valance is to add a fun, beaded trim. I love to use a glass bead trim on the bottom hemline. The sunlight hits the beads and brings a beautiful shimmer or bling to the room.
