I can’t say enough about Kim and the Salmon-Casson team. Whether you already have a vision for your design or need some help creating one, Kim brings to life some of the most stunning rooms I have ever seen. Kim is timely, responsive, meticulous to the last detail, but most of all, she is a natural at what she does and loves her work. It makes it that much more fun to work with someone who loves design and ALSO loves your family room, your den, and your master bath as much as you do.

I hired Salmon-Casson, Ltd to design and execute a complete redesign and redecoration of my Victorian Townhouse back in the fall of 2011. This was a project I had been thinking about for many years and the scope was fairly substantial. It entailed painting the interior and exterior of the home (seven rooms), window treatments throughout including four bay windows, refinishing/upholstering for numerous family antiques and new furniture selections to complement everything.

The results were fantastic–far ahead of my expectations. The home is just beautiful and has an undeniable “wow factor” that impresses everyone who comes to visit. Kim Casson is a very gifted interior designer and skilled “problem solver.” I have to admit, I came to the project with a long “wish list” of disparate and sometimes contradictory objectives. Kim listened carefully and did a superb job of integrating my requirements with unique and striking ideas that I never would have dreamed of myself. She brought on board several subcontractors to get the work done (painters, upholsterers, re-finishers, window treatments, tilers, etc.) and they were all very professional, efficient and true experts in their craft. The entire project was completed on time and under budget.

Nearly three years since the project was completed, I still enjoy living in this beautiful space as much as I did when it was first completed. Five-plus stars to Salmon-Casson, Ltd!

I’ve seen a lot of Kim Casson’s work and love her design style. I hired her to completely redo my family room with all new furniture, rug, draperies and accessories. After seeing the room and noticing the vaulted ceiling, she suggested we add beams and beadboard to really pull the room together and accent the “fifth wall”. She suggested a medium beige for the walls, a lighter shade for the ceiling and white to match the trim in the room for the beams. This is, by far, my favorite addition to the room. It made a huge difference! I would never have thought to do that on my own.

I live in Richmond and Kim is a couple hours away in Northern VA so after the initial meeting at her office, we did most of our corresponding through texts and e-mails, which was never a problem. She and her assistant, Pam, were very easy to work with and were very patient with me during the times I changed my mind and started questioning my choices. After listening to me and figuring out my style preferences, Kim selected several different pieces for me to choose from. When all was said and done, I ordered a couch, loveseat, 2 chairs, an ottoman, 2 end tables, a coffee table, console, mirror and numerous lamps and other accessories to complete the room. This was a lot of furniture, but Kim was honest and direct about estimating the cost and staying within my budget.

I loved working with Kim and felt she really listened to what I wanted. I had to trust her judgment on some of the more unique pieces and she really came through. The room is beautiful and I hope to work with Kim and Salmon-Casson, Ltd. again in the near future.

Kim has done a fantastic job of working with us on a recent family room/kitchen makeover. She was able to work miracles with the very minimal direction we gave her of having “something different but more modern” than our previous design and, it had to be functional in a house with three children. She was able to deliver us exactly what we wanted!

With not much more than color inspiration we gave her from some magazines, Kim was able to put together a truly beautiful and comfortable family room and kitchen. Our project was to redesign the family room completely and a partial redesign of the kitchen. Kim excels in identifying the best colors for walls and furniture and talked us into a charcoal accent wall that I would never have thought to do on my own, but she somehow she saw my vision for that room with so very little direction. Some of our favorite pieces are the tufted chair in a bold yellow leather that you just sink into and the tangerine side tables that provide a ton of storage. Also in the room are the unique acacia wood coffee table and the comfortable yet durable couch fabric.

She also paid attention to the details to provide continuity in the two rooms. For instance, the nailhead trim on the couch and chair in the family room was repeated in the fabulous window cornices in the adjoining kitchen.

Kim helped us pick transitional pieces that weren’t expensive but are truly functional for a family with small children. I appreciated that Kim really listened to our needs and was able to give us advice where to spend the money on a great piece or to go with a less expensive piece that still looked great. I highly recommend Kim for your next design project.

We loved her suggestion of replacing the existing brick fireplace in the family room with a new modern dark slate stacked stone fireplace and a reclaimed wood mantel. The contrast of the wood against the stone is the focal point of the room. Although, the large modern pendant in the family room is so unexpected. She helped us pick out hand blown glass pendants over our kitchen island and a fabulous modern iron chandelier over the kitchen table.

Kim understood that we wished to have a stylist silk art rug but we didn’t want to make a huge investment because of the kids. She found something for us that didn’t compromise the style of the room and fit within our budget.
